Details
Through his time as front-man of The Smiths and subsequent enduringsolo career, Morrissey has cemented his place as one of the true UKmusic icons. This position has ensured him a large, dedicated fanbaseand significant commercial success: to date he has notched up 33Top-40 solo singles (with 10 in the Top 10) and 11 Top-10 solo albums. This lasting success has not been limited to his early career either, with his last three studio albums charting No. 2, No 1 and No 3respectively.
Morrissey’s debut album ‘Viva Hate’ was originally released in March1988 just six months after the release of the final Smiths' album.‘Strangeways, Here We Come’. Keeping the core jangling guitar sound ofhis previous band, Morrissey’s first record provided the ultimateplatform for his by-then legendary lyrical abilities, resulting in aset of what would become classic Morrissey tracks: ‘Suedehead’,‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’, ‘Little Man, What Now?’ and the ‘Margareton a Guillotine’ to name a few.
‘Viva Hate’ has now been remastered for the first time (supervised bythe original producer Steven Street) and comes with brand new artwork,an introduction by Chrissie Hynde and now includes the rare track‘Treat Me Like A Human Being’. The ‘Viva Hate’ Special Edition isavailable on CD in a gatefold digipak, a heavyweight gatefold doubleLP and download.
