Description
Rich Hopkins, the „Godfather of Desert Rock", started out with a combo called The Sidewinders who came out of Tucson, Arizona with a rough, dusty guitar sound which became popular as "desert rock". They changed their name to the Sand Rubies in 1993. Reformed in 2007 with singer/guitarist David Slutes they now release Mas Cuacha. The album kicks off with a great triple attack and "Can't Change That", "Satellite Radio" and "Showcase 89". Powerful but not to heavy electric guitars, a drifting beat and choruses like anthems (with the tendency to power pop) is the dominant sound on the first tracks on Mas Cuacha before Byrds guitars, accordion and guest singer Lonna Kelly are featured in "Flotsam and Jetsam".1.
