Legendary Singer and Songwriter Essra Mohawk's list of accomplishments is nearly endless. She has worked with world class artists such as Frank Zappa and Jerry Garcia, and has supported greats such as Procol Harum, Jimi Hendrix and Cream. “You're Not Alone”, produced by Essra's longtime friend Jon Tiven, features guest appearances by Keb Mo', Bonnie Bramlett and Steve Cropper. Essra co-wrote all thirteen original songs on the album.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Essra currently resides in Nashville. Her first single was released on the Liberty label in 1964. She became the first female member of Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention. Zappa signed her to his Bizarre label and her first album, “Sandy's Album Is Here at Last” appeared soon after. She also recorded the classic “Primordial Lovers” (named by Rolling Stone magazine as "one of the best 25 albums ever made"). Her biggest success as a songwriter was when Cyndi Lauper had a Billboard number three hit with "Change of Heart" in 1986. Later in the 80's Tina Turner recorded "Stronger Than The Wind". While accomplishing all this, Essra has also managed to record eight highly acclaimed albums of her own. She has always commanded a great deal of respect from musicians, critics and a loyal fan base.
