| Jackie Lomax - 'Is This What You Want?' (Apple 1969) £11.99 | |
One of the first artists signed to Apple, Jackie Lomax's first album
from 1969 sports an incredible line-up including, George, Paul, Ringo, Eric and
many others. When Apple was formed George Harrison brought Jackie Lomax to the label and soon recorded him in March 1968 on 'Won't You Come Back' and 'Little Yellow Pills'. George liked his sound and wrote a song in India about meditation for him, titled 'Sour Milk Sea'. The recording of this track and Jackie's own composition 'The Eagle Laughs At You' brought together a star-studded recording session with George and Jackie on rhythm guitars accompanied by Paul McCartney on bass, Eric Clapton on lead, Ringo Starr on drums and Nicky Hopkins on Piano. Six more tracks produced by George for the album in Los Angeles used the best of the L.A. session men: Hal Blaine, Larry Knechtel and Joe Osborn. |
