Collectors Choice: Skip Battin:
'Skip' "A cult classic from 1972 Kim Fowley's fingerprints are all over this album as a lyricist and quasi-producer, and Byrds Roger McGuinn and Clarence White play on it, too. But Battin’s love of old-time rock ‘n’ roll and Tom Lehrer-esque satire are what make this record really unusual; throw some Byrds-like country-rock into the recipe and you’ve got one strange, intoxicating
concoction" Tracks:1. Undercover Man 2 Ballad Of Dick Clark 3 Captain Video 4 Central Park 5 Four Legs Are Better Than Two 6 Valentino 7 Human Being Blues 8 St. Louis Browns 9 My Secret Life 10 Cobras £9.99,

Another
Collectors Choice psyche gem:
Bruce Palmer 'The Cycle Is Complete' "This is easily
one of the most ambitious releases of the late ’60s and early ’70s,

Complete' blends psychedelic trance jams with world music and even
free jazz to create a vibe......I bet you can't wait to read more....£12.99.
More on this soon: Ron Elliott 'Candlestick Maker'
"Featuring future Burrito Brother Chris Ethridge, jazzman
Bud Shank and Ry Cooder among other top-notch LA sessionmen, 'The
Candlestickmaker' delved deeper into the rootsy, reflective vein of
the Beau Brummels’ last two LPs, Needless to say, this album sunk
like a stone when it was released, but as the most single ambitious
effort by one of the ‘Sixties’ most underrated songwriters, it’s
essential listening"

Do
you remember that 'New Album of the Week' feature that we
started that lasted one week? Well its back, in the form of
Montreal's Soft Canyon's
first album 'Broken Spirit, I Will Mend Your
Wings' - (from alien 8 recordings) "this incredible band that has risen from the ashes of Tricky Woo. The band borrows heavily from the Laurel Canyon sound that spawned the likes of producer, arranger and musician Jack Nietzsche as well as absurdist popster Van Dyke Parks, not to mention the great influence it had on Arthur Lee's Love and former Canadian Neil Young.
On Hope's Great Divide, a track that is incredibly catchy and chock full of studio trickery that will have you thinking it must be one of those lost gems from the 70's. The band also blends heavy influences of Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother era, with early Grateful Dead and Allman
Brothers"....more
here. Download an MP3 of Hope's Great
Divide here.Out soon
At
