And in stock soon, 'Big Star Story' - newly

And, on the same label, The Yardbirds - 'Our Own Sound'
and The Kinetic - 'Live Your Life' - £11.99 each . Go
here for all the details. I
can't think why you'd be interested in my opinion, but like
me you may not have heard an SACD before and, as I've spent
all day listening to these albums, I'll tell you what I
think. Firstly, audio equipment - I didn't use a pure SACD
payer but a Sony DVD player (Sony DVP-NS705V - £199, so not
'high end' stuff) with the ability to play SACDs, put
through a goodish but ancient (35 year old) analogue amp and
some similarly specced speakers. The results? Stunning. The
separation of the instruments, the warm sound of the voice
and the absolute clarity of the reproduction put the originals
to shame. Of course we knew they were poor, never having
been digitally remastered, but if you're a Dylan fan
pondering a sonic upgrade to your old CDs, don't think you
won't be able to tell the difference, you will. (Of course,
you may say, we're trying to sell there things so we're bound to say they're
good!!)

SACDs :Described as
"The First Major Sonic Upgrade of His CD Catalog" Fifteen Bob Dylan albums have been released in the Hybrid Super Audio CD (SACD) format. These discs also feature restored artwork based on original album packaging. Hybrid Super Audio CD discs feature a high-density layer which can provide high-resolution, multi-channel surround sound in addition to a separate two-channel stereo SACD version of the same music, and a layer with a CD version of the recording.
The result is a hybrid disc whose full audio potential can be realized by the new generation of SACD players, and which is fully compatible with all other existing CD players on the market today.
"These fifteen titles mark the start of a long-term program to enhance and upgrade the sonic quality and packaging elements of one of the most important album catalogs in popular
music".
'Blonde on Blonde', along with five other titles - 'Another Side of Bob
Dylan', 'Bringing It All Back Home', 'Blood On the Tracks',
'Slow Train Coming', and "Love and Theft" - will now be issued as 5.1 multi-channel releases with accompanying stereo mixes, in addition to their hybrid SACD versions.

'Mescalero'
The much-delayed album of new material from ZZ
TOP (the following from ZZTop.com:) "Mescalero is the result of many months of planning, writing, woodshedding, experimentation and recording and represents another major milestone in a remarkable career that encompasses an amazing 34 years of American rock and roll history from these eternal icons of rock, blues and boogie. As it was in the beginning, the ZZ TOP of 2003 boasts its original personnel line up: Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard. It's the same "little ol' band from Texas," retooled and re-energized for the new millennium. Mescalero is the latest installment in an unparalleled resume that stretches back to 1969 Mescalero includes sixteen tracks (fifteen of which were written for the album plus one cover song) for a total running time of approximately 63 minutes; the band refers to the album's length as "a buck and change." The album was produced by Billy F Gibbons and Lone Wolf Production Company. Packaging, created by L.A. artist Ryk Maverick, is inspired by Mexico's "Dia De Los Muertes" in keeping with the border theme of the album. The selections run the stylistic gamut from blues-rock to neo-metal to crypto-zydeco to boogie flavored vamps, even including a country inflected ballad and a big dose of TexMex border ambience. In fact, one of the tracks, "Que Lastima" which might be described as techno-mariachi, is sung entirely in Spanish while the title song is a bilingual outing. Beyond the Mescalero originals, the album includes "Tramp," the proto-rap R&B classic, written by Lowell Fulsom and Jimmy McCracklin, that was a hit duet for Otis Redding and Carla Thomas in 1967. Other Mescalero titles include "Two Ways To Play," "Alley-Gator," "Goin' So Good," "Me So Stupid," "Piece," "Punk Ass Boyfriend," "Stackin' Paper," "What Would You Do," "What It Is Kid," "Crunchy," "Dusted" and "Liquor." Gibbons commented, "Mescalero - what it is? Nobody really knows! It is strange and alluring and that's a good thing. Try it - you gonna like it."

masses of 'Rubble' titles, psychedelia and rock. October Psychedelic releases from
Sundazed: "Who else but
Sundazed could have put together a mindbending, six-album October release schedule that follows the cross-country route of the dayglo-painted bus of the Merry Pranksters? Not surprising really, since unearthing ultra-rare, vintage, garage and psychedelia are the one of the hard-earned cornerstones of our reputation. Gassing up in California with a paisley-powered, unreleased third album from San Francisco's
Mojo Men ('There Goes My Mind?
£11.99) in tow, we motor south to pick up a startling unissued work by
Raik's Progress, ('Sewer Rat Love
Chant' £11.99) a Fresno combo with Beefheart and Mothers overtones. Then we highball it over to Minnesota to snag albums by a pair of heroic Land o' Lakes combos, the
Stillroven ('Too Many Spaces' £11.99)
and The Paisleys ('Cosmic Mind At Play' £12.99), before making a beeline for New York where our journey ends with a pair of Gotham legends.. The rabid garage mayhem of the
Bruthers ('Bad Way To Go! £11.99)
is the perfect NYC foil for the holy grail of psych: the long-rumored but never released album by
The Gurus ('The Gurus Are Hear!'
£12.99) -an electric-raga laced masterpiece of mind expansion. These are not just reissued albums with bonus tracks added. Be aware that none of these mind-altering albums, except for the Paisleys, has ever seen the light of day before!

classics on the way: H.P. Lovecraft - 'H.P.
Lovecraft': "Now re-issued as 1 album CD the classic debut album by USA 60's
Psychedelic band". Morgen - 'Morgen' "Finally, a CD reissue of
Ultra Rare but all time favorite Psychedelic 60's album from USA. Led by Steven Morgen, who simple named his band
Morgen. A true Psychedelic artifact originally release on Probe 1968/1969. Comes with original
artwork 'The Scream' from Edvard Munch" Phantom's Divine
Comedy - 'Part One' "One and only album by Phantom's Divine
Comedy a very Doors-like rock outfit from the USA from the early 70's. A vocalist sounding so much like Doors it was scary,
especially as this record was releases right after the death of Jim Morrison. Elektra tried to get the record banned but it only meant promotion for this album, as you understand. Great psych."
Silver Apples -'Contact' "UK import. Reissue of the NY
pioneering duo's second and final album (1969), featuring such classics as 'You And I', 'I Have Known Love' or A Pox On You'. Drums, vocals and oscillators made up this
duo" Wizards from Kansas - 'Wizards from Kansas' "Reissue of
Ultra-Rare album from this Psych band from Kansas USA. Originally released on Mercury in 1970 and since then very sought after as only a few were pressed and NOT promoted at all, due to the fact the band called it a day. Leaving Mercury with an album, but no band to promote
it" £9.99 each Click

£16.99, Iain Mathews - 'If You Saw Through My Eyes' (£12.99)
and Jason Ringenberg - 'A Day at the Farm with Farmer Jason' £11.99

Robert
Wyatt - 'Solar Flares' "This
album started its life as simply a collection of the two BBC Top
Gear sessions that Robert recorded in 1972 and 1974. But as we
worked on it, Robert became more and more involved in it, until it
ended up in its final form. In addition to the Top Gear recordings,
there is a previously unheard and little known 1973 soundtrack for a
short experimental film, two recent works with old collaborator Hugh
Hopper and finally a 2003 home demo of a new song that did not end
up on Robert's new release "Cuckooland". Additionally,
this CD includes a Quicktime movie of that 1973 film, as well as a
16 page booklet filled with photos, artwork and stories supplied by
Robert and others, and liner notes by Aymeric Leroy"
